Hey guys,
So being a thrifitng pro and all, I have some recommended tips and tricks for when you go to the thrift store, salvation army, etc.
So being a thrifitng pro and all, I have some recommended tips and tricks for when you go to the thrift store, salvation army, etc.
- Go when you have time. Thrifitng requires patience because you have to sift through all the junk to find the gems. These kind of stores can also be unorganized and messy so if you are running short on time, pick a section of the store to focus on (like only women's tops/blouses) and you can go back to a different section another day.
- Go alone. My friends always ask where I get some of my clothes and when I say the thrift store they say somehting along the lines of "I can never find anything good... where do you go...teach me Yoda"... I got carried away, they don't call me Yoda, but they do ask to come with me. Maybe it's just me, but I enjoy the process of thrifitng and it's kind of a rush when you find something awesome for so cheap. So take a solo thrift trip and you'll be more focused to find that something special.
- Don't bring a lot of "stuff." Leave your backpacks, large purses, and Chihuahua at home. You use your hands to go through the racks so you don't want to be carrying around anything you don't need (no Pumpkin Spice Lattes).
- No cell phone. This is a zen experience.
- Girls: Look in the men's and kids sections! Some of my favorite finds are from the men's section because they are bigger and comfy.
- Bring cash... some smaller thrift stores don't use credit cards.
- Have fun! Don't be discouraged if you can't find anything... sometimes it's really hit or miss.
